USA-based researcher and Photoshop whizz Nickolay Lamm has created some new work that imagines how New York City would look like if it were North Korea.
Lamm took inspiration from author Barbara Demick, who wrote the book ’Nothing To Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea’. She describes Pyongyang being a place where “no artificial lighting competes with the intensity of the stars”. A stark contrast with the glittering lights of New York City.
Using Photoshop, Lamm reimagined New York City with less lights, advertising banners and billboards. Instead, Lamm’s version of Times Square is now filled with nationalistic propaganda posters.
