Clever Driver Safety Ads That Show Toy Cars Crashing Inside Anatomical Models

Argentine visual studio Flamboyant Paradise has created a series of eye-catching driver safety print ads that depict toy cars crashing inside human anatomical models.

Created for ad agency JWT Buenos Aires, they are meant to highlight the fact that motor vehicle accidents cause more deaths among people under the age of 35 than diseases.

Despite their bright colors and playful feel, the ads manage to get the serious message across in a creative way.

10. Designer Stops Texting, Sends Photos Of Hand-Written Calligraphic Messages

Designer Cristina Vanko created “Modern Day Snail Mail” when she decided to start texting handwritten calligraphic messages instead of typing text messages. With an old calligraphy pen belonging to her father, this designer texted her friends a snapshot of a handwritten note as text message replies. Through this project, Vanko reflects on how technology has changed the way we communicate.

9. ‘The Married Kama Sutra’ Depicts Humorous Marriage ‘Positions’

‘The Married Kama Sutra’ by Simon Rich and Farley Katz touts itself as “The World’s Least Erotic Manual”, and it probably is—as it presents humorous snippets of a married couple’s life, and the ways they keep the spark alive. It takes on the style of the ancient text, the Kama Sutra, only with scenarios that are completely changed.

8. The ‘Kama Sutra’ Of Sleeping Positions For Couples

Comics website Chaos Life has also given the Kama Sutra a new, wholesome spin. This truthful series of 16 comic representations illustrates the different positions that couples take on when sleeping.

7. Minimalistic Visualizations Explain Differences In Eastern And Western Cultures

Visual designer Yang Liu’s series of graphics that explain the differences in Eastern and Western culture are incredibly spot-on. Born in China but raised in Germany, Yang Liu explains the cultural differences based on her own experience. She uses simple symbols and shapes to convey just how different the two cultures are.

6. Adorable Photographs Of A Tiny Baby Squirrel Resting In Odd Places

On a work trip to Sri Lanka, BBC documentary filmmaker Paul Williams formed an unlikely friendship with a baby squirrel after it was separated from its mother. He named the squirrel Rob, and even allowed his new furry friend to take naps on his camera and in his coffee mug.

5. LOL: Man Pranks Facebook Users By Recreating Their Profile Pictures

Reddit user CasinoRoy pulled a massive prank on the Internet when he imitated strangers on Facebook by recreating their profile pictures. After doing a search for people who share the same name as him, he mimicked their poses and outfits, took a photo of himself, used it as his profile picture, before sending them a friend request just to creep them out.

4. Popular Cartoon Characters Like You’ve Never Seen Them Before

California-based artist Coran ‘Kizer’ Stone reimagined popular cartoon characters like ‘Mario’, ‘Pokemon’, ‘Popeye’ and ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ in these incredible illustrations. Stone’s dynamic and action-packed style perfectly complement his creative take on the characters.

3. Heartwarming Photos Tell Of A Friendship Between A Girl And A Cat

Russian photographer Andy Prokh captured adorable photos of his daughter Catherine and her growing up years with their family pet, a gray British Shorthair cat. This series shows Catherine and the cat sharing an undeniably strong chemistry, exploring and taking on the world.

2. Illustrations Of Unusual And Rarely Spoken Words

Irish illustrators James and Michael Fizgarald, also known as The Project Twins, came up with illustrations that visually depict words that are rarely spoken or heard of. In ‘A-Z of Unusual Words’, the meaning behind each word is defined visually and presented as a whimsical poster.

1. Animals Photoshopped To Create Hilarious New Species

Reddit user gyyp photoshopped different animals together, and as a byproduct, created downright weird (but totally hilarious) species of never-seen-before animals. His series of ‘Weird Animals’ include pairings of a lion with a guinea pig, a shark with a horse, and a duck with an elephant, just to name a few. Some look truly frightening, while others are quite adorable.

Artist Creates Intricate Coin Carvings On Nickels

Barcelona-based artist Paolo Curio aka ‘MrThe’ creates amazing, intricate coin carvings known as ‘Hobo Nickels’.

Using actual nickel as his ‘canvas’—due to their size, thickness and softness of the metal—Curio etches portraits of literary and pop culture icons on them.

He also carves portraits of skulls on the coins, a prevalent theme in hobo nickel art.

Striking Photographic Portraits Inspired By 16th Century Paintings

Photographer Klaus Enrique has a striking portrait series titled ‘The Arcimboldo Series’ inspired by the 16th century paintings of Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who was known for his paintings of portraits made from fruits, vegetables, and other objects.

Enrique constructed the large scale paintings using the same materials, imbuing them with a sense of humor and creativity, and expanding his portfolio to include portraits of modern day figures like Ghandi and Darth Vader.

He explained, “Although most recognize the images immediately as portraits, there are many people who do not. At first they only see the individual parts of the image: the fruits, flowers, and vegetables. But after looking at it for a while, they realize that it’s a portrait of a person. To see that thought process being played out in real time is very satisfying to me because it mimics the thinking behind the art: that simple organic objects come together to create something more meaningful than the sum of its parts.”

Photographer Captures Ecstatic Dogs Leaning Out Of Car Windows

Dogs in Cars’ is an unusual, yet delightful pet project by Los Angeles-based animal photographer Lara Jo Regan, in which she captures ecstatic dogs hanging their heads out of moving car windows.

With their tongues hanging out of their mouths, these humorous portraits were aimed at exploring the joyful experience felt by the animals as the breeze hits their faces.

“I usually try to come up with ideas that are somewhat odd and complex to insure no one else is doing the same thing,” she said. “But as an owner of three dogs living in the Los Angeles car culture, the idea was just staring me in the face.”

“Most dogs become downright delirious over a car ride, and I wanted to capture this amazing primal energy in photographs beyond what I’d seen before.”
