A Veggie Burger That Looks And ‘Bleeds’ Like Real Meat Burgers

It seems like Stanford University professor Patrick Brown wants to challenge the belief that veggie burgers can never match up to the allure of juicy meat burgers.

Brown has created ‘The Impossible Cheeseburger’—a veggie burger with reddish, meat-like patties that look and “bleed” like real beef burgers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the veggie burger, developed based on research done by Brown’s company, Impossible Foods, tastes “somewhere between beef and turkey”.

To create the blood-like appearance and taste in his veggie burger’s patties, Brown used heme, a component that is extracted from the roots of some plants—it is also found in haemoglobin in blood too.

What do you think—do you find the idea of a “bleeding” veggie burger appetizing?
