Personal care brand Dove has released a short film by Ogilvy Paris that explores the correlation between how mothers feel about their bodies and the effect it has on their daughters.

In the video, five pairs of mother and daughter were asked to list down what they liked and disliked about their bodies. Later, the lists were exchanged and read.

The mothers’ reactions were mostly surprised and wistful, because it turned out that their daughters listed down the same dislikes. One of them admitted that she had mentioned not liking a certain body part of hers to her daughter and that was probably why she listed it down too.

“Whether a mother, aunt, coach, teacher or sister, all women can set a positive example for the next generation by expressing their own beauty with confidence,” said Jennifer Bremner, director of marketing at Dove.
