Swiss mountaineering brand Mammut has teamed up with mountaineering photographer Robert Böesch to capture stunning images of mountain climbers ascending the Swiss Alps.

Dressed in striking red suits, they are pictured trekking up the slopes, forming patterns on the snowy landscape, and hanging from suspension ropes, showing off the durability of the brand’s products.

Achieving the breathtaking images didn’t come easy as the team had to race against time and endure extreme conditions to pull off this amazing feat.

With 14 July 2015 marking the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn by Edward Whymper, the centerpiece was a dramatic photograph of the mountain lit up in red lights that marked the route he took.

Taken for Mammut’s 2015 ad campaign, it’s an amazing image that pays tribute to the climbers who have conquered the mountain, and a source of inspiration to future climbers.

Watch a making-of video below on how the Matterhorn photograph came about, and view more images after.
