J.R.R. Tolkien’s Rare Self-Illustrated Artworks Of Lovely, Fantasy Landscapes





Reddit user ethan_kahn has posted a set of English author J.R.R. Tolkien’s rare artworks, revealing his little-known talent in creating wonderful, whimsical illustrations.



Similar to Tolkien’s self-illustrated artworks that we wrote about previously, the recently uploaded set features pencil sketches of colorful, fantasy landscapes, and selected characters from his books, such as Smaug. It also appears that the The Lord of the Rings author had a penchant for using line art in his work.



Interestingly, some Reddit users were surprised that Tolkien himself had created these artworks, which also graced the covers in the older editions of his books.
