Condom Ads Urge You To Protect Your Body Like You Would The Environment

Vermont-based eco-friendly condom brand Sustain Condoms wants you to show the same care and concern for your body as you show to the environment.

For its ‘Protect Your Environment’ series, the brand partnered with creative director Alex Hollender and New York City-based photographer Bruno Levy for a collection of images featuring condoms wrapped around trees and plants.

The ads are targeted at millenials who tend to place more importance on the environment than their own bodies.

“In the US, 1 in 4 college freshman ends up with an STD, yet only 19% of sexually active single women use condoms regularly. Clearly there is a disconnect, and I think a lot of that comes from a lack of education, and the taboo in our culture around talking about sex and contraception,” said co-founder Meika Hollender in an interview with PSFK.

“We want people to understand that sex and condoms are a critical part of OUR environment. We need to take care of and protect our own sexual health the same way we might take care of the world around us,” she added.

Sustain Condoms is the only Fair Trade certified brand in the US that is marketed primarily to women. Its products are free from chemicals, in particular the carcinogen nitrosamine.
