After revealing how its chicken McNuggets and french fries are made, McDonald’s USA shows us how its beef patties are made in a video posted on its YouTube page.

In the video, former Mythbusters co-host Grant Imahara gets taken on a tour of a Cargill meat processing plant in Fresno, California. Cargill is the fast food giant’s beef supplier in America.

The beef is first inspected and loaded in a grinder, and fed into patty formers. They are then placed in a rotating spiral freezer to help lock in the flavor, before being packed into boxes to be shipped off to McDonald’s outlets around the country.

To ensure the patties are up to scratch, an on-site food technician conducts taste tests by cooking them exactly like how they are cooked at McDonald’s.

Despite Imahara’s attempts to quiz the staff about “lips and eyeballs”, “pink slime” and “wood pulp” in the meat, they don’t miss a beat and assure him that it is “100% beef”.

The video was filmed as part of McDonald’s ‘Our Food, Your Questions’ campaign.
