A UN study has revealed that one third of the world’s food goes to waste, yet “925 million people around the world are threatened by starvation”. This prompted Vienna-based photographer Klaus Pichler to create a food-themed photo series.

Called ‘One third’, the photo series features carefully arranged rotting food that according to Pichler, highlights the “connection between individual wastage of food and globalized food production”.
