Would you notice if a TV host dresses the same on a program almost every day for a year?

Australia’s The Today Show anchorman Karl Stefanovic shows you that nobody came to that realization—to what he wears, at least.

Donning the same rip-off Burberry suit on air for a year is Stefanovic’s statement against the sexism faced by his female co-host, Lisa Wilkinson, on a daily basis. While nobody paid attention to his identical daily wear, Wilkinson is judged by what she wears, how her hair and make-up are done.

For example, Wilkinson has once received a letter from a viewer named Angela criticizing her get-up: “Who the heck is Lisa’s stylist? Whoever it is has Lisa in some shocking clothes. Today’s outfit is particularly jarring and awful. Just my two cents worth... get some style.”

On the other hand, there was zero viewer awareness on Stefanovic’s outfit, which is the same every day, except on occasions that circumstances do not allow.

He told Fairfax Media, “No one has noticed; no one gives a shit. But women, they wear the wrong color and they get pulled up. They say the wrong thing and there are thousands of tweets written about them. Women are judged much more harshly and keenly for what they do, what they say and what they wear.”

“I’m judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour—on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they’re wearing or how their hair is,” Stefanovic continued.
