Artist ‘Paints’ Portraits With Tulle

British artist Benjamin Shine has created a series of hyper-realistic portraits using a very unusual material—the tulle fabric.

With each piece constructed from a single length of tulle, these portraits look incredibly like regular photographs when viewed from afar.

Featuring famous personalities—such as Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana and Andy Warhol—these tulle portraits were made by pleating, ironing and manipulating the fabric to form areas of light and shadow.

While they retain the quality of photographic prints, they also have a fascinating three-dimensional depth.
