Movie-Inspired Typography

British freelance graphic designer and illustrator Simon Heard has created a series of Hollywood movie-inspired typefaces as a personal project.

Born of his childhood and teenage obsession with movies, these typefaces bear Hollywood’s trademark dramatic boldness.

After going through each movie,, Heard picks out memorable details and scenes before starting to work on the letters.

According to him, “The balance has to be just right between readability and good, eye-catching design”.

Currently, this typographic series consists of four movies—based on Gremlins, The Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park and Shaun of the Dead respectively.
