Men Doing Yoga Reveals A Different, Refreshing Side To The Practice

Yoga might indubitably be more popular amongst the fairer sex, but men are fast catching up on the practice.

Photographer Amy Goalen aims to capture that in a photo series celebrating men who embrace their strength and masculinity through the discipline.

Titled ‘Yoga Men’, different men are photographed in various yoga poses, and Goalen has compiled 15 of her personal favorites into a 2015 wall calendar.

She has also teamed up with writer Julian DeVoe to produce a related book, titled Inside the Warrior, hoping to change perspectives and disprove stereotypes about the practice.

The website states: “Inside the Warrior is a book project meant to highlight and celebrate men who practice yoga. It is meant to change our perception of who should practice yoga and who does practice yoga. We aim to put a spotlight on the participants of yoga that are most under represented by illustrating both the physical and the spiritual components of a yoga practice with portraits in addition to interviews, excerpts, and personal perspectives.”

Find out more about the project through this website and see more beautiful photos of yoga men here or on Goalen’s Facebook.
