The Internet is a vast treasure trove of everything and anything, so much so that individuals are increasingly reliant on it, even for diagnosis of potential illnesses.

However, the search results are not entirely reliable and we aren’t qualified professionals who are equipped to make the right call.

Hence, a Belgian medical site Gezondheid en Wetenschap, with the Flemish government’s support, decided to step in to caution against such ill-informed self-diagnosis.

The remedy, by creative agency DDB Brussels, aims to tackle the problem head-on.

Google AdWords were bought for the top 100 symptoms that people search for, where the top result will appear with a message stating ‘Don’t Google it, check a reliable source’. Individuals are then directed to the medical site upon clicking on the link.
