It has been an eventful two days for the tablet market. A day after Nokia announced its brand new Nokia N1 tablet, Jolla—a company consisting of former Nokia employees—has launched its own 8-inch tablet on crowd-funding site Indiegogo.

Dubbed “the world’s first crowdsourced tablet”, the Jolla Tablet is described as a “people powered”, open source device that runs on the new Sailfish OS 2.0.

Features of this gesture-operated tablet include a convenient multi-tasking view, an easily customizable interface, and the capability to run apps from both the Jolla Store and Android app marketplaces—according to its creators, “if an app doesn’t exist, you can always make it”.

In just a day, the tablet’s Indiegogo campaign has already received more than 200% of its initial funding goal—at the time of writing, all the early bird units have been claimed, but it would still only cost you a reasonable US$204 to own one of the first Jolla tablets.
