American Express has teamed up with Twitter to allow cardholders to shop for products on the micro-blogging site by using specific hashtags.
Customers who synchronize their AmEx cards with Twitter and tweet a specific hastag will be able to buy products from Amazon, Sony, Urban Zen, Xbox 360—as well as AmEx gift cards.
These products will be ‘sold’ at a special price—for example, the US$25 AmEx gift cards can be purchased at $15 by simply tweeting the hashtag #BuyAmexGiftCard25.
If customers choose to purchase these items via tweet, they will receive a verification from @AmexSync that will contain a confirmation hashtag.
They will then have 15 minutes to tweet back the confirmation hashtag to confirm their purchase—after which, their purchased product will be delivered to their homes within two days for free.
