Beautiful, Surreal Illustrations Painted On Old Book Covers

UK-based, award-winning illustrator and artist Russell Cobb has embarked on a personal project where he creates gorgeous paintings on books that he found in old bookstores.

An experiment in the use of different artistic canvases, Cobb’s book paintings are striking, brightly colored and surreal—they often feature dream-like scenes that transport the viewer to the artist’s whimsical inner world.

While he often paints over the book before working on the illustrations, the illustrator has left the cover text untouched on some of these book artworks, which adds an interesting typographic element to them.
