For the AAF Birmingham ADDY Awards 2013, an ad agency spoofed Paul Harvey’s Ram Trucks Super Bowl commercial, ‘Farmer’.
The parody—entitled ‘And God Created an Ad Person’ by “Not Paul Harvey”, and posted by YouTube user Arik Sokol—features a voice over and stills in similar fashion to that of ‘Farmer’.
The voice over says: “And on the 81st day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need advertising.’ So god made an Ad person.”
“God said, ‘I need somebody willing to get up before noon, bill the clients, work all afternoon in the office, bill clients again, drink supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the Advertising Federation. So God made an Account Executive.”
“God said, ‘I need somebody willing to sit up all night, writing very interesting copy—and watch it die. Then dry her eyes and say, maybe next week…”
