Artist Creates Photorealistic Paintings Of People In Steamy Showers

Brooklyn-based artist Alyssa Monks paints photorealistic oil paintings of what people look like with their faces pressed against a steamed up glass pane in the shower.

Skilfully re-creating the fine qualities of visual filters like glass, vinyl, water and steam, she depicts her subjects up close but endow them with mystique by making them peep through the clear spaces made by water droplets on the glass, which teases ad piques the interest of the audience.

“These filters allow for large areas of abstract design - islands of color with activated surfaces - while bits of the human form peak [sic] through.”
