Artist Streams Dates For Live Feedbacks

Artist and programmer Lauren McCarthy has developed a system that livestreams dates in order to get feedback on her social interactions.

Called ‘Social Turkers’, the system relies on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk crowdsourcing service that allows people to comment and watch her date live.

McCarthy has managed to livestream dates using an iPhone app and has gotten real-time feedback on her social interactions.

Turk workers were paid to watch the live stream and they offered feedback on what she should say or do via texts.

McCarthy hopes to offer the easy-to-use app for anyone who wishes to crowdsource their own relationships.

“I was really amazed by how much the workers were able to notice from such low quality audio and video. They picked up on the times when I was nervous, uncomfortable, bored, interested, engaged with stunning accuracy.” Shared McCarthy.

“Sometimes the feedback would tell me to relax or smile and I would read the responses afterward and they’d mention I seemed really nervous. I’d watch the footage and realize they were right.”
