To promote the Peru-based University of Engineering and Technology’s capabilities, agency Mayo DraftFCB created the first billboard that produces drinkable water from the air.

In Lima, the second largest capital in the world set on a desert, many suffer from the lack of potable water—because of polluted wells and lack of rain, though the atmospheric humidity of the place is 98%.

By tapping onto the air’s high amount of humidity, the billboard’s generators capture the humidity, does a ‘reverse-osmosis’, and turns it into purified water that is stored in tanks.

Residents can collect water from the billboard through the taps on its base—making it a solution to the region’s real need.
