American photographer Kevin Cooley has created an enticing series of unexpected light sources purposefully placed in the midst of the darkness.
Titled ‘Lights Edge, these captivating scenes feature a contrast between light of the natural world and a manufactured one—where flares are used to capture a single streak of light.
Each light is an intentional intervention, where Cooley uses a manmade product to directly contradict the mysterious yet intriguing beauty of nature.
“I am interested in our collective obsession with conquering, overpowering, and controlling nature, yet there is still both a longing and a fear towards nature. We are constantly reminded that despite our best efforts, it is nature that is ultimately in control. “
