Would you watch a ‘Stars Wars’ movie that is all about Jar Jar Binks? Or maybe Yoda or Han Solo?
According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, he said that the company will be producing stand-online movies based on popular characters from the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
“We are in development of a few stand-alone films,” said Iger, “that are not part of the Star Wars saga… there are now creative entities working on developing scripts for what would be those standalone films.”
The stand-alone movies will be separated from the upcoming Episodes VII, VIII and IX, and they are expected to be released sometime after Episode VII.
Currently, two spinoff films have been confirmed—one will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, the screenwriter of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Raiders of the Lost Art’—while the other will be written by Simon Kinberg, the writer of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’.
