Florida’s New Business Logo Angers Women, Called ‘Sexist’

Enterprise Florida, an organization trying to promote Florida’s job growth is facing backlash over a new logo that has been described as ‘sexist’ by women.

The logo, which features a necktie in place of the letter ‘I’ in ‘Florida’, has been called “offensive” and “not very female friendly” by critics.

“With so many new women business owners impacting our economy…you should consider ditching the tie,” wrote one female commenter on Enterprise Florida’s Facebook page.

“Your tie logo is offensive. What, business is men only?” posted another woman.

According to Melissa Medley, the chief marketing officer at Enterprise Florida, she said that the logo was just one part of a larger campaign that the company hasn’t publicly launched yet.

“If you see tie, you think business,” Medley explained. “There’s nothing sinister here. There’s no secret formula how it was approached.”

“I recognize some people might look at that and connect to a man’s article of clothing,” she added. “Most people do so because they haven’t seen the rest of the campaign. I respect peoples’ opinions and we would never do anything to offend anyone.”

According to ABC news, the logo is the state’s first ever “business brand”.

What do you think? Is the logo really sexist?
