Cooking a hard-boiled egg usually involves a pot and boiling water.
British inventor James Seddon has designed a way to make hard-boiled eggs without the need of the water.
Called ‘Eggxactly’, the device was designed to be a ‘toaster for eggs’—it features two soft silicon heating elements that transfer heat to the egg efficiently.
To use the device, simply place an egg into the toaster, close the lid, and turn a dial to determine how 'hard' you want the egg to be cooked.
Next, tap the device on the top to start the cooking process—once the egg is done cooking, you’ll be alerted by a beeping sound.
Eggs of different sizes and shapes can fit into the toaster and its website reports that it only uses 1% of the energy from using a pot and boiling water.
Eggxactly is expected to sell for US$39 each.
