Vienna and Beijing-based architect firm Penda has developed a concept for an expandable hotel made from bamboo rods.
Called ‘One With the Birds’, the hotel would be built by placing bamboo rods diagonally in opposing directions to form a firm structure. The rods will also be placed horizontally to act as the flooring for the hotel.
Bamboo rods can be added continuously to the structure to make it even taller and wider.
Chris Precht from Penda told Dezeen that the hotel allows guests to be “connected to the verticality of the trees, experience a forest from the perspective of a child climbing a tree, in between the treetops, with the birds”.
This concept by Penda was an entry for the AIM Legend of the Tent competition in China.
