A Dazzling Luxury Yacht Created By Stacking Levels Of Glass Together

Lujac Desautel, an architecture student from the California College of the Arts, has designed a luxury yacht by stacking glass like LEGO bricks.

Calling the project ‘GLASS’, Desautel was requested to build the yacht upon a small water-plane area twin hull (SWATH) platform.

Unlike traditional yacht designs, GLASS was constructed by placing three cubic volumes vertically. An elevator is placed in the middle of the yacht to allow accessibility to all parts of the vessel.

The middle volume offers a stunning 360 degrees view of the sea from anywhere on-board. Passengers on-board can also access the lower deck which has stairs leading to the water.

According to the architect, GLASS is “the re-examination of the traditional yacht typology which is typically defined by its longitudinal linearity, creating much longer and sleek sculptural forms”.
