You now have a legitimate excuse to stay out in the rain longer with this smart umbrella.
The Sensing Umbrella, is the product of a collaboration between a group of Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design students, Giorgio Olivero from Italy’s ToDo Design, and Massimo Banzi, the co-founder of Arduino.
This smart umbrella literally dazzles when in use. It measures “local carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide pollution levels” with its Arduino Yún micro controller. The affixed LED lights then reflects the data collected in real-time by changing its color and rhythm.
The data collected with the umbrella is not put to waste—it is timestamped, geo-located and uploaded to the Cloud for analysis purposes.
