Paris-based photographer Andrew Kovalev has a lovely project titled ‘Les Visages des Puces’ in which he documents the sellers of the city’s Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen flea market.

Located in the suburbs, it is one of the biggest and oldest flea markets in the world. It is made up of 14 smaller markets, each with its own distinct identity and specialities.

Steeped in history and heritage, the Saint-Ouen flea market is home to a thriving community of sellers who live, work, create and form the lifeblood of the place.

According to Kovalev, his aim was to capture the faces of its myriad quirky characters, and to show the “incredible diversity of its parts”, which come together as an entity yet remain separate.
