While shooting for a space health article for Wired UK, photographer Chris Crisman sent his assistant, Robert Luessen, for a ride in a human centrifuge that had him spinning at 5G forces.
The idea behind the stomach-churning photo shoot was to capture the emotions that astronauts experience as they launch into space.
The resulting portrait, which was taken as soon as he stepped out of the centrifuge, is a priceless shot of Luessen—he may have looked rather dazed and confused, but it captured the raw emotions that Crisman was looking for.
