Poignant Portraits Reflect The Resilience Of Acid Attack Survivors

Previously, we featured Pakistan women who were disfigured due to acid attacks by men.

Now, there is a new photo series by photographer Ken Hermann and video journalist Tai Klan that features victims of acid attacks from Dhaka, Bangladesh, in a project aptly named ‘Survivors’.

Interestingly, despite being visibly scarred from the acid attacks, the subjects in this photo series do not appear vulnerable or emotional. Instead, they seem to exude a sense of resilience in their respective portraits.

According to Hermann, he wanted to emphasize the acid attack survivors’ "beauty and strength rather than displaying them as freaks" with his project.
