To celebrate its 125th anniversary, The Wall Street Journal has reprinted the front page of its first edition from 8 July 1889—and it is filled with fascinating historical details.
Instead of just putting this antique document up on its website, a team at the newspaper has also included a collection of informative annotations that not only provided context for the material but also explained what happened subsequently in the various news stories.
View the reprint, and its accompanying annotations, here.
