Artist Lies 'Dead' In Front Of An Iconic Statue, Gets Ignored By The Public

Artist activists Keith Wallace, Lee Edward Colston and another student, had expressed their feelings and opinions about the latest murder of an unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri by a policeman earlier this month.

Wallace positioned himself face-down for an hour while wearing a t-shirt that appears to be blood stained by bullet shots, in front of the iconic LOVE statue in Love park, Philadelphia.

Standing near him were two others who held the sign that reads “Call Us By Our Names”—he was fed up with the media and public for not acknowledging the names of the victims who suffered under police brutality, like Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin, whose names were replaced by “unarmed citizens, thugs, robbery suspect” in news reports. He explained that when a name is given, the public becomes socially responsible in a different way.

The silent protest was faced with mixed feelings from the public, some who were against the act commented that “they’re black kids…They don’t have anything better to do”, while other positive reactions had a Latina woman with her two young boys commending that it was important to never be afraid to tell the truth.
