Jewelry That Harvests Our Body Movements To Create Electricity

Jerusalem-based industrial designer Naomi Kizhner has created a jewelry concept that harnesses your body’s energy to create electricity.

Her collection, ‘Energy Addicts’, is a response to the energy crisis. It converts kinetic energy from the body's involuntary movements, such as blinking or blood movement through our veins, into electricity.

Identifying the human body as a renewable, natural energy resource, she decided to use it further. Her solution was to create jewelry that could tap the body’s movements for useable energy.

Her pieces of jewelry are made of gold and 3D-printed biopolymer. They are worn embedded onto the skin. Each design is to be worn on different parts of the body to harvest energy from specific physiological functions.

Through this project, she hopes to invoke a discussion on what limits we’d be willing to go to in order to produce more energy.
