Intimate Photos Reveal The Quiet Moments Shared By Families In Their Homes

Barugata

Photographer Charlotta María Hauksdóttir documented the various interactions and activities that take place in families’ homes in San Francisco, through her aptly named project, ‘Moments’.

In an interview with Slate, Hauksdóttir said that she was more interested to find out how people are influenced by their homes, the memories that they create, and the way they live everyday.

In her project, Hauksdóttir placed her camera and tripod in a corner of the family’s home to capture them as they move about.

After taking photos from the same spot in intervals, Hauksdóttir edited and combined the different scenes to create a final composite image filled with silhouettes.

While the multiple silhouettes appear rather “ghostly” at first glance, the final image reveals an insightful and intimate look into the various activities—be it significant ones like celebrations, or quiet ones like a mother playing with her child—that these families engage in daily.

Take a look at Hauksdóttir’s wonderful work below.
