Anthony Carbajal has made a heartbreaking video offering a glimpse into life with the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) disease and also addressesing the ongoing viral ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’.
In the video, he shared that the ALS disease runs in his family—from his grandmother to his mother, and then him, having diagnosed five months ago at 26 years old.
The four-minute-long video also provided a heart-rending look into how life is like for those afflicted with the disease, a sight that is normally hidden or not talked much about.
Hence, Carbajal said the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ is a good thing, even if it generates hate, as this means it would have achieved its goal of raising awareness of the disease.
He said, “This is the first successful advocacy that we’ve ever really had and I am so grateful. You have no idea how every single challenge makes me feel. [It] lifts my spirits, lifts every single ALS patient’s spirits. You’re really truly making a difference. We’re so grateful.”
Check out the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ attempted by Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Ronald McDonald.
