National Geographic Photographers Reveal Horrible Things That Happen On The Job

The Photo Society, a website run by a group of National Geographic photographers, has compiled a list of the horrible and crazy things that have happened to them on assignment.

It was put together as a tribute to photographer Wes Skiles, who recently passed away while on the job.

Skiles was an intrepid explorer who was into cave diving and underwater cinematography, and this tribute was a fitting way to remember him.

Some of the more unusual and horrifying incidents include being bitten by ticks on the penis, streaming blood while dangling from a harness 1,500 feet in the air, and having a seat belt come undone while in a helicopter hovering on its side over a volcano.

It’s a sobering reality check that reveals the extraordinary amount of pain and suffering that photographers endure for their craft.

Check out some of the bizarre things that have occurred below, and view the entire list here.
