As of 20 August, The ALS Association has raised US$31.5 million, and a large part of it is probably credited to the ongoing viral campaign—the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’.

Joining in the campaign is McDonald’s mascot Ronald McDonald, who was nominated by Coca-Cola’s Wendy Clark.

The clown challenged redheads all over the world to take on the dare before carrying out the challenge by emptying an entire packet of ice cubes into a bucket and pelting himself with them.

The ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ aims to help raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, find out more here.
