Chennai tapas bar Zara has worked together with Chennai Traffic Police in addressing the issue of drink-driving in India.
As drink-driving is responsible for 70% of road fatalities in India, the strategy was to send the widely feared God of Death, Yama, from Hindu mythology to raise awareness.
Yama was discreetly placed in patrons’ car when the valet brought the cars back.
Seeing the God of Death as a “wake-up call”, many patrons who experienced the live stunt turned to drivers-for-hire service instead.
