New York City’s First Official Design Week Unveils Logo

Home to more designers than any other U.S city, it is surprising that New York City did not have an official design week—but it does now.

A 12-day festival created to “give design a leg up in American culture”, NYCxDesign aims to promote design in the Big Apple and hopes to reach out to the city’s 45,000 design professionals.

The newly launched website has unveiled the event’s logo and branding, elements that are no doubt especially important for a design week—in this case, it takes the form of an “obvious and flexible x” that “represents a crossroads between designers and the city”.

The stenciled x—the work of local studio Base Design—is adaptable and can be tailored to fit different events and designers’ work.

What do you think of this logo? NYCxDesign will begin on 10 May 2013.
