Hanging Laundry Transformed Into Incredible Art

Finnish environmental artist Kaarina Kaiakkonen uses hundreds of colorful children’s shirts to create an installation of tiered hanging clotheslines, neatly arranged to form what looks like the interior hull of a giant ship.

The installation, titled “Are We Still Going On?”, was conceived specially for the former factory of the fashion label, Max Mara. The shirts were organized by color on each side, subtly bringing out a dialogue about gender.

Her exhibition is now ongoing at the Collezione Maramotti in Italy until 21 April 2013.
