A Lovely Clock That Uses A Dancing Ballerina To Display The Time

German designer Meike Harde has come up with a refreshing way of telling time.

Harde acknowledges that the graphical presentation of each clock usually reminds that we are late, giving us pressure. With this design, she wanted to show the fragility that comes with constant change, and used a ballerina to replace the hour and minute hands.

The ballerina’s body functions as the hour hand, and one of her legs functions as the minute hand. She can be seen pirouetting gracefully or stretching in an uncomfortable position.

“Its metaphorical design tries to introduce poetry into an every-day item and to throw a contemplative glance at the transien[ce] of time by means of the seemingly eternally young ballerina.”

Indeed, we are pleasantly surprised by the elegance of the dancing figure—this beautiful way of telling time takes away some of the stress of everyday life.
