US artist Cory Arcangel has come up with a book that contains the tweets of people who are “working on a novel”.
Arcangel created a Twitter account called @wrknonmynovel to source for tweets of aspiring writers. It looks like many people have literary ambitions, and have hunkered down to work on their novel—except they are on social media talking about it.
Some tweets show the confidence and determination of some writers, while others are on the verge of giving up. There are also people who have listed their distractions that prevent them from doing creative work, which serve as commentary on procrastination.
Yet, one has to admire their spirit—they did set some time aside to do creative work, even if they succumbed to the lure of the internet.
The book Working On My Novel will be released by Penguin Books on 31 July 2014 for UK£5.99.
