Bizarre Anatomical Medical Models From 18th Century Europe

The usual anatomical medical models that you see in the doctor’s office definitely pale in comparison to these ones.

These bizzare anatomical models, mostly made from wax, were created to educate medical students in 18th century Europe.

Initially, you may find these models hard to stomach, but look closer and you will see that they are often fitted with long, flowing locks of hair, adorned with jewelry and elaborate make-up.

Some of these stylized models are downright disturbing—fancy studying a model giving birth, or an eyelid surgery in progress?
