New World shopping mall, located in Bangkok, Thailand used to be a 11-story shopping center. Due to Bangkok’s old regulations on a four story limit for buildings, the other levels had to be demolished.
Later on, the mall suffered an arson attack and was subsequently abandoned. The roof of the building was damaged in the aftermath and the basement was flooded as rainwater could get in.
In the early 2000’s, an anonymous person introduced a small population of exotic Koi and Catfish species to the ‘pond’. The fishes managed to thrive, growing into an unbelievable self-sustained urban aquarium.
Aspiring visitors to the site should take note that the building is not officially open to the public.
