Italy-based sculptor Matthew Simmonds has created a collection of miniature architectural marble sculptures.
The sculptor's works are greatly inspired by the pristine interiors of ancient baroque basilicas and Roman temples, after having restored major monuments such as the Westminster Abbey and the cathedrals of Salisbury and Ely.
His works can be likened to fossils of buildings trapped within a rock, creating surreal spaces for the eyes to wander, giving viewers a feeling of being able to live in these pieces or being transported to a different place and time.
