In February, Vice magazine introduced us to Dan Janssen—the man who has eaten pizza every day for the last 25 years. Now, we are able to watch a short documentary that talks about his life and diet.
Janssen does eat other types of food, but he makes an effort to consume pizza every day. Many people who have met him have said that they wanted to be just like him, while others say that he is going to die.
The diabetic said that most of his doctors are fine with his diet, except for his endocrinologist. The others have told him to “keep doing what you’re doing” as his cholesterol is “fine”.
His fiancĂ©e, Madeline, has asked him to see a therapist about his “issues” with food. She has also attempted to get him to eat other foods, like putting vegetables onto his pizza. Ironically, Janssen does not like his greens even though he is vegetarian.
The documentary also contains commentary by Dr Greg Chasson, who stated that these food aversions usually take root in childhood. They are not usually problematic until they impact a person’s life.
Watch the documentary below—is Janssen healthy, or do you think he needs too see a nutritionist?
