French artist Lia Giraud’s photos for her project ‘Algae-graphs’ are fascinating to look at—you would not have guessed the medium that she used!
To create her photos, Giraud exposed an image onto a petri dish filled with light-sensitive microalgae. After four days, the microalgae reacts by rearranging itself to form an image.
It is a pity that her algae photos, while lovely, are ephemeral—the photos can only exist as long as the algae lives.
