Crayon Skates And Helmets Let Kids Get Imaginative With Their Drawings

Mathery Studio has designed an interactive space for children to explore their creativity with drawing, for a children's program by the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia.

The project called ‘Pastello-Draw Act’, comes from the Italian word for “pastel” or “crayon”—which was the primary material used in the entire project.

Crayons were shaped and molded into large sphere and fun shapes, installed all over the exhibition ground—“it aims to break children out of their comfort zone and become active protagonist in the physical act of drawing”.

The kids will also be geared in accessories attached with crayons such as a pair of skates with crayon wheels and a crayon-embedded helmet, and encouraged to draw in odd ways through a series of sports and performance based activities.

The interactive display will be open to the public at the Children's Gallery of NGV International from now to 21 August 2014.
