The topic of female pleasure is one that is often ignored by the media and rarely mentioned in conversation.
New York City-based photographer Linda Troeller and art director Marion Schneider aim to bring this issue to the forefront with their project ‘Orgasm.’
They set out to photograph women of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities having orgasms, and compiled the images into a book.
Captured at the point of climax, they are depicted in a variety of situations—one woman has her hand up her skirt, while another has a cucumber in her mouth with her arms raised in triumph.
The images are displayed alongside interviews with the subjects, and feature questions such as “Can you remember your first orgasm?” and “Can you remember your strongest orgasm?”
“There is a process for women at any age to ‘evolve’ and feel in touch with ther ‘hot’ selves... Eroticism is no longer associated solely with ‘sex’, but it is a vital ‘turn on to life’”, said Troeller of her motivation behind the project.
Through their book, the pair hopes to combat the stigma and culture of shame that prevents open and honest dialogue regarding female sexuality.
